MO Alliance for Freedom Files Complaint with Attorney General as Auditor Galloway Refuses to Produce Public Records

Auditor Galloway refuses Sunshine law request for production, denying the public their right to government records.

KANSAS CITY — Missouri Alliance for Freedom filed a complaint with Attorney General Josh Hawley, citing failure to comply with the Missouri Sunshine Law by Auditor Nicole Galloway.

On May 26, Missouri Alliance for Freedom requested public records be produced by Auditor Galloway, including text messages from her government cellular phone. Galloway refused production of several public records - including the text messages - and Missouri Alliance for Freedom initiated a lawsuit on July 17 in Cole County to compel her production of those records, in compliance with the Missouri Sunshine Law.

Galloway has still not produced outstanding documents, including the text messages from her government phone.

“The documents requested of Auditor Galloway are public record and should be produced - Galloway is withholding property that belongs to Missourians,” said Kristen Blanchard Ansley, President of Missouri Alliance for Freedom. “Our request was submitted in May, and now it’s almost January and Nicole Galloway is still refusing to hand over her government phone records and hundreds of other documents on the Missouri taxpayer’s dime. Our citizens deserve access to Auditor Galloway’s public documents, and we will continue to fight and act as a watchdog for the people of Missouri.”
