Currently, there is a 17.3 cents per gallon tax on motor fuels. This act increases the tax by two cents immediately and by an additional four cents over the next two years. Once fully phased in, the rate of tax will be 23.3 cents per gallon. The tax will be adjusted annually for inflation beginning three years after the effective date of the act.
