Missourians currently pay, on average, 13.108% sales tax on their cell phone bills, including federal, state, and local sales taxes.
HB 714 increases the amount Missourians pay by $1.50 each month for those that are able to afford contract service. Those that cannot afford a deposit will be charged 3% of their pre-paid service.
Even more egregious, those that cannot afford a deposit and must instead opt for pre-paid cell phone service will see an effective increase of 19% in the taxes they currently pay.
Missourians are taxed enough and we appreciate your support in preventing this new burden on your constituents, especially those that may be less fortunate and unable to acquire a contract for the service.
