Jefferson City, MO – Missouri Alliance for Freedom today released the findings of the first Missouri public opinion poll on the issue of bringing Syrian Refugees to the state and the results show Missourians are deeply concerned about the program especially in light of the attacks on Paris by radical Islamic terrorists.

In the aftermath of the ISIS attacks on Paris, 76 percent of Missourians are more concerned with accepting Syrian refugees.

"Missourians are compassionate people and understand that there are millions affected by the civil war in Syria who need assistance and our hearts go out to them," said Ryan Johnson, President of Missouri Alliance for Freedom.  "But Missourians are also concerned with the safety of our families and communities and have grave concerns that the government is unable to determine whether those seeking safety in the United States are actually from Syria and are truly refugees. In light of the attacks on Paris, we must be extremely cautious of allowing potential ISIS members to infiltrate our borders to carry out attacks on our soil. It is time for Governor Nixon to stand up to the Obama Administration and call for a stop to resettlement of Syrian refugees in Missouri.”

"On October 21st, FBI Director James Comey testified before the Homeland Security Committee that the FBI has no means to vet any Syrian refugees before they enter our country. It isn't that our security agencies won't attempt to vet the refugees, but there is no database holding information agencies might access to verify the backgrounds and motives of these individuals."

The survey was conducted November 17 through November 18, 2015, with 1,451 likely voters participating in the survey. The Margin of Error is +/- 2.8% with a 95 percent level of confidence. Totals do not always equal 100 percent due to rounding. Survey conducted by Remington Research Group on behalf of Missouri Alliance for Freedom.
